Feels like another dry period of gaming again. Still a ton of games I want to try out, and yet they’re either never going to be released outside of Japan, taking forever to finish being developed/released, or just fell off the radar.
Really looking forward for Ni no Kuni, Atelier Ayesha, Final Fantasy Type-0, and possibly the Wii-U. And here’s wishing for a Suikoden VI, a Breath of Fire whatever, Valkyria Chronicles 3, and a non-crappy Mana game. Seems like my old favorites will never be coming back, no matter how many fans want it to happen.
At least the current anime season is actually good (been a pretty long time since I can say that, lol). Still waiting on the second Berserk movie and Blood-C: The Last Dark, unfortunately. Berserk’s third movie and The Last Dark’s trailer has been around a while too. =(
Current season anime that I’m sticking to:
– Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!
– Jormungand: Perfect Order (S2)
– Kamisama Kiss
– Little Busters!
– Magi
– Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (S2)
– Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
– Shinsekai Yori
– Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
Kinda crazy, since it’s usually 3-5 per season.
Unsure about these ones, as I either ended up reading the manga/light novel (and watching it just to see it animated), or the first couple of episodes failed to keep me interested:
– BTOOOM! (Caught up on reading the manga after the first 2 episodes, which IMO ended up being generic and not very surprising story-wise.)
– Code:Breaker
– K (Great first episode… annnd that’s about it. Will give it a couple more episodes…)
– PSYCO-PASS (Every time I see this one, I keep thinking of engrish… lol.)
– Robotics;Notes (Never liked any series with “;” in it. Steins;Gate is the only exception. Giving this one a couple more episodes as well.)
– Zetsuen no Tempest
– Sword Art Online –
This one gets it’s own little section, because this is one of the few anime/manga/light novels that irks the hell out of me. Not that I’m an expert writer myself, and I love what the author is trying to get at, but the way it’s portrayed and written just doesn’t seem right to me.
All these girls flocking from no where, loving the main character because he has a big-fuzzy-lovable heart, and of course there’s never a story unless the main character has insecurities, or just random people dying. This happens in pretty much every arc of SAO, or rather it happens with every female Kirito runs into. The worst part of it all is probably when Yui came into the story. These kids are trying to be the parents of a kid that’s 5-6 years younger than them, I couldn’t help but lol. Honestly, SAO could have been done without Yui ever being thrown in. I can’t help but wonder if the author is trying to project himself into the story; at least try to be a little more believable.
I originally just watched about 2, maybe 3 episodes of the anime? First thing that came to mind was, WTF was that? I didn’t know anything about the characters and they started dying off already. I know they did the same thing with Ga-Rei: Zero, but that worked out a lot better than SAO did it. It was obvious they wanted you to feel for Kirito, but it kind of just whooshed over for me. Despite all my rantings, I still love reading the novel.
And lastly, I still want one of those Insane Black Rock Shooter figures that came bundled with the Blu-ray. Just might get one… maybe… so damn expensive!
